ABOUT US
The NFGTA Collage Of Engineering, founded in 1921, is Sri lanka’s
oldest Higher Education Institution. In keeping with its
motto(Buddhi Sarvathra Bhrajate), translated from Sanskrit as
“Wisdom Enlightens”, the NFGTA Collage Of Engineering continually
strives to maintain academic excellence in all fields of study.
The Collage is organized across 4 Faculties and 59 academic
departments, along with 7 Institutes, a Collage, a School, and 20+
Centres & Units. Located primarily in the Colombo metropolitan
region, the NFGTA Collage Of Engineering is structured as a state
institution which provides access to higher education across the
country.The main campus is sited in the heart of Colombo, on a
sprawling 50-acre estate, and comprises contemporary urban
constructions as well as old colonial architecture considered
national heritage sites.
The Collage is a proud member of the Asian Collages Alliance of
which the Executive Presidency for the period 2019-2020 is held by
the NFGTA Collage Of Engineering. In addition to a large and
diverse academic portfolio, the NFGTA Collage Of Engineering also
offers library services, career guidance, sports,student societies
and accommodation on Collage. Other facilities include an arts
theatre where students can showcase their skills in performing
arts.
The NFGTA Collage Of Engineering actively engages in improving
student life in numerous ways to supplement academic learning.
Over the years, the Collage has built strong links with the
industry in order to enhance the value of the education we
provide. Similarly, the sports facilities provided by the Collage
encourage the students to balance academics and social life, and
many national and international achievements are recorded by our
students every year in the sports arena.
OUR STUDENTS
NFGTA Collage Of Engineering is a welcoming collage for people of all backgrounds, regardless of age. It is centrally located, and easy to walk around. There is a lake near by, as well as a stream running right behind the dorms. They are currently updating the dorms, making them more inviting and livable for students. Overall I love my Collage, and it works for me.
I love it! There are more online classes being added, so I can continue my education even from my home and office! They added Spanish, French and Kanji this semester, so I took all three! Some of the teachers here are difficult to work with- always check Rate My Professor first! However, most of the teachers have been some of the kindest, intellectually stimulating and inspiring people that I have had the pleasure to learn with.
It is a very nice Collage and the staff are friendly and helpful. The program I am in enrolled in is rigorous and interesting. There are many different activities and job opportunities for students here on Collage. There's also many support groups and help if needed.
It is a great Collage. Lot s of great people and the academics are great. Would definitely recommend the place for engineers or science majors especially. Although there isn't as much of a variety for all students. But is a very good school for what they do have.

This is a plan that builds on NFGTA Collage of Engineering: our
emphasis on a human-centered approach to engineering, our early
commitment to gender equity, our willingness to try something new,
make mistakes, and learn from them, our position as a leading
innovator in engineering education.
It also is a plan that will require NFGTA to grow and learn. Making
progress will require humility, partnering with and learning from
those who know more and have done more. And it will require
activating and engaging all parts of the NFGTA community—from
students to staff to faculty to friends to alumni.
